Most Common Vitamin Deficiencies In Connecticut

Vitamin deficiencies are much more common than you might realize. Living in certain geographic regions can have a large impact on vitamin deficiencies. Here are some of the most common deficiencies, among people living in the New England area.

Vitamin D3 -

New England has often been called a "Vitamin D dessert." This vitamin plays an incredibly important role in immune function, mental health, and bone health. A main sign of a vitamin D deficiency is frequency illness, particularly colds.

In New England, we tend to not see much of the sun from October to May. This lack of sun exposure inhibits our ability to synthesize enough vitamin D.

If you believe you don't get enough exposure to the sun, vitamin D injections are a great way to give your body the monthly boost it needs. Our Happiness Cocktail is packed with Vitamin D3. Patients who receive this injection once or twice every month boast of consistently being in a better mood. The Happiness Cocktail is a great way for people from Connecticut to fight seasonal affective disorder (S.A.D.), which so many of us suffer from during the winter months.

Vitamin B12 -

Vitamin B12 does a lot of heavy lifting within the body. It helps make DNA, nerve and blood cells, and is crucial for healthy brain and immune function. Your metabolism wouldn't run smoothly without it.

But B12 isn't like other vitamins. It is only found in animal products like eggs, meat, shellfish, and dairy. Up to 15% of people don't get enough B12. People at greatest risk for developing B12 deficiencies are vegetarians & vegans, people with celiac disease, and people over the age of 50.

B12 shots are growing in popularity amongst New Englanders. However, unless diagnosed with an actual deficiency, they are not covered by insurance. Most medical spa prices for a B12 shot range from $60-$75 an injection (which is highway robbery in our opinion).

Choline -

Choline is a vitamin B-like substance, however it is not actually a vitamin. It is a molecule that makes up an important part of all cell membranes. Choline is more prevalently found in eggs, animal organs (like liver), and soybeans. Choline is a vital nutrient in preventing heart disease, improving memory, and decreasing inflammation. Unfortunately, nationwide, 90-95% of people do not receive adequate amounts of this nutrient.

At The Glow Bar, we offer an injection to address both B12 and Choline deficiencies - our Metabolism Cocktail! This Cocktail boosts your energy, promotes weight loss, and improves mood.

The Glow Bar offers all of the above vitamins and nutrients in our intramuscular vitamin cocktails. Schedule an appointment today to start feeling better from the inside out!
